In her own words:
"In 2005, I began my 20 th year at Catawba College as a Professor of Modern Foreign Languages. I teach all levels of Spanish from the Elementary through the Advanced courses in our Spanish major. I thoroughly enjoy working with my students and am happy to spend long hours giving extra help out of class to my students in their language studies. I always tell my students that I expect their best personal academic effort in all of their studies. I encourage them to take pride in everything they do as members of the Catawba College community. "

"While my professional specialization is in Hispanic Linguistics (especially dialectology and historical grammar), I have enjoyed for many years teaching as a "generalist," i.e., teaching courses in language, literature, and culture at all levels. Having lived extensively in Mexico, I have a particular interest in Latin America, and by extension I am an advocate of Latino immigrants to the U.S."

In his own words:
"I am an actor, director, and creative writer of prose fiction. My hope is always to bring a high-quality theatre experience to audiences through my work in that medium. As a writer, I hope to leave to serious and thoughtful readers prose works that will offer a glimpse of the enduring fountain of hope and joy that exists, eternal, in human life. As the product of a family farm, I maintain an active interest in the outdoors, in gardening and hiking. I run or swim almost daily."
