Dr. Osterhus has been in education for 35 years, serving in public school education as a mathematics teacher and a district administrator prior to coming to Catawba. She has been recognized nationally for excellence in teaching including the honors of serving as the North Carolina Teacher of the Year and as one of the NASA Teacher in Space finalists. In her classroom, she integrates computers and technology and emphasizes student-centered learning. Her experiences include facilitating leadership and teaming activities in a variety of contexts and for students of all ages. When not teaching, Dr. Osterhus enjoys hiking, traveling, and being with her family including her granddaughter. |
Dr. Poston has taught Biology and Environmental Science courses at Catawba since 2000. Prior to that, he taught at the University of Kentucky, Berea College, and UNCChapel Hill. For two years, Dr. Poston was the naturalist at one of the largest YMCA residential camps in the nation. His specialty is the ecology of vertebrates, particularly birds. When not teaching, Dr. Poston enjoys photography, exercising, and spending time outdoors with his wife and four children. |
